we cannot buy them in our little town of Homer, Alaska. Rita, my fiancé, was able to buy some at a store across the bay in Seldovia, but this is a one-hour boat ride away and not on our regular route, if you know what I mean. We have kept a ready store of Kodiak Cakes at my weekend place on the bay (picture of satisfied customers attached), but now, alas, we are Kodiak Cake-less….It is a dark winter, indeed, which lies ahead holding the prospect of gnawing on the lifeless preservative packed creations that commonly pass for pancakes these days. Dear Kodiak Pancake Mix People: If anyone asks what is the best gift we received to commemorate our 60th Wedding Anniversary, I would show the 4 boxes of Kodiak Pancake Mix….the mix proved to be the best pancakes we have eaten. That is quite a compliment since my husband as a child had pancakes almost every morning for his breakfast….Those pancakes made with your mix are the best he has ever tasted.

About 2 hours ago, I got off of work. My pregnant wife was upstairs, and had mumbled something about being hungry. Although she mumbles A LOT about being hungry (and needing to use the restroom…pregnancy), I thought I might surprise her with a pre-bedtime “breakfast.” Especially since one of her recent cravings has been pancakes, and the last round of mix she bought left her unsatisfied. I had purchased a box of Kodiak Cakes mix in the supermarket, just because it looked tasty. I guess it appealed to the part of me that grew up in a simpler place, the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. Bottom line: Bar None the best pancakes either of us have ever eaten. It’s 6:45 on a Saturday morning and I am compelled to tell you of my experience, here in my little kitchen, with your Kodiak Cakes. Always searching for the perfect pancake/waffle mix, I came across your box which I liked immediately for the presentation—pleasing old-time look and recycled paper. The ingredients passed inspection—100% whole grains with wholesome others. Next just add water? Oh yeah, this box is mine. So as I prepared the flapjacks, I noticed how smooth the batter was, not like some 100% whole grain products which you can use to scour the sink with their grittiness. Smelled good too. Now for a little real butter in the pan to get the nice browning. Flapjacks looking good. The grand finale is to pour real Vermont maple syrup—not those fake atrocities—into the empty but still hot pan and then pour the now hot syrup over the flapjacks. I took the first bite. My eyes got wide. Real wide. This is it! This is what I’ve been searching for. As I ate—actually, wolfed down the flapjacks, I read the back of the box. Yes, some of us like to be edified and now realize that flapjacks and pancakes are not the same. Thanks. Well, an hour later, I’m still smiling in gustatory delight and reverence for your mix. A heartfelt thanks and please don’t change a thing.

My husband had to go to Maryland to take care of my marine stepson who was just diagnosed with lymphoma cancer (he’s 23). We cannot tell you how much we love the Kodiak Cakes. My cousin who lives in McHenry, IL served them for breakfast…. One bite, we were hooked. I just wanted to say your flapjacks are wonderful. As a young man I worked in logging camps on the Minnesota - Canadian border and ate flapjacks for breakfast most every morning. It was possible to buy Flapjack mix in Canada. I've never seen it anywhere else. At that time you could also buy sour cream butter. It was called grade B butter. It was perfect with flapjacks and syrup. Your flapjacks bring back a flood of great memories from long ago, and I will be buying them from now on.

First, I would like to thank your company for making a wonderful product! I live in the marshes of south Louisiana in a small town named Houma…I turned diabetic at the turn of the century and have found that most of the products made for diabetics are either over priced, over promoted of just plain over rated! I came across your Kodiak Cakes mix at Rousse’s Foods in Houma. They were so good along with having a high amount of fiber that I went back and bought all of the boxes that they had. Since then I had my wife get on line and order a case from y’all because the store had not restocked your mix. Not only do I make my waffles plain, I also make chocolate, chocolate with peanut butter, peanut butter, blueberry flavored and raspberry flavored. I saw your product in Heber Valley, Utah a little over 3 years ago while camping, and just from the ruff, tuff looking box, I wanted to try them, but for some reason I passed them up. However, the image of the box stayed in my mind all these years. Every time I heard someone say they were going to get some pancake mix, I would tell them to look for the brown box with the bear on it. Well no one ever found them. My wife, Anna, is currently five months pregnant and invariably has food cravings. For a few weeks now, her principal craving has been pancakes. As an elementary school teacher, I have recently been instructing my fifth-grade students about nutrition, and they have all been appalled in learning how much fat and unhealthy ingredients many of today’s most popular companies/restaurants include in their products. I discovered your product a year ago and have not tired a different pancake mix since. The combination of high quality ingredients and balance of fat/protein/carbohydrate/fiber were what drew me to the product. The fact that they taste awesome made me keep coming back. I have told so many friends and family members about your product. I even buy some their first box. The reason I was looking for a new pancake mix was to introduce my daughter to whole grains and more wholesome foods. She loves them and eats her pancakes at least three days a week (so do I). Thanks, thanks, thanks, for making such a delicious, nutritious, HEALTHY product with no 'junk' added! I picked up a box of your mix when I was visiting family in Seattle (partly because I was born in Kodiak, AK, and partly because of the short ingredient list), and now I need to get busy finding out if they're available locally (Twin Cities)! I love their ease of preparation, but more to the point I love that they're good for us. I'm about to check out the other recipe ideas, but I want to say to anybody considering buying Kodiak Cakes: DO IT. You won't be sorry!
I am so grateful for your flapjacks mix...I can have pancakes again! I am diabetic and the overly processed white flour based mixes raise my blood sugars too much...but NOT your flapjack mix. I have been told by my doctor that whole grains with more fiber are better for my blood sugars and your flapjacks fit the bill! And what's even better, I don't even miss those flimsy pancakes now that I have something even BETTER! Even my husband and two teenage sons all prefer your flapjacks (and I feel better serving everyone something healthier). Thank you, thank you, thank you!
