Weight Control Tip

I would have titled this post as the tip of the week, but I still haven’t decided if these tips will be daily or weekly. However this tip is one that I strongly believe can help anyone with a desire to lose weight and keep it off.

Tip: Get off the couch and do something!

This may sound harsh, but a few Mayo Clinic articles that i have read state the importance of daily and regular exercise. “Studies show that people who maintain their weight loss over the long term get regular physical activity” (Mayo Clinic article). In this same article they point out that “Exercise also offers numerous health benefits, including boosting your mood, strengthening your cardiovascular system and reducing your blood pressure“.  If you want to know more benefits of exercise read here where they list 8, yep that’s right 8 benefits of daily exercise!

Joel and I took this message to heart and started our exercise plan last week. We decided that we would come into work everyday at 7 am so we could start our workout at 3 pm. Yes, it is still hard to get out of bed that early, but it feels great.

Last year we invested in P90X (I will include a picture later of our workout room down in the basement of our office), and began working out everyday after work. This year we plan on running every day if the weather is good and if not we will do P90X. We both find it very motivating to have someone else to run with. Having someone else to run with makes it is easier to run longer and keep the speed up. I will be sure to keep you updated on our runs and how we feel during these exercising endeavors. I hope this tip for the day/week helps you out with your New Years goals, I would love to hear your ideas that you find helpful when exercising.
